CRUD stands for Create, read, update, delete, a programming abbreviation.
The four basic operations of persistent storage and the typical actions of database-backed apps. In REST APIs they usually map to POST, GET, PUT or PATCH, and DELETE, and in SQL to INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE.
Example: The admin panel is basic CRUD for products, categories and discount codes.
Usage notes
The acronym was popularized by James Martin's 1983 book "Managing the Data-base Environment". "CRUD app" is mildly dismissive slang for a straightforward form-and-table application with little business logic. Variants include BREAD (browse, read, edit, add, delete).
