BTFD stands for Buy the f***ing dip, a cryptocurrency & blockchain abbreviation.
Trading slang urging people to buy an asset after its price falls, on the belief that it will rebound. It is common in crypto and stock-trading communities.
Example: Bitcoin dropped 12 percent in an hour, and the group chat lit up with BTFD.
Usage notes
A cruder version of "buy the dip" that spread as markets rebounded strongly from sell-offs in the 2010s. Buying a falling asset backfires when the decline continues, a risk captured by the phrase "catching a falling knife". Because of the profanity, it is usually written only as the abbreviation.
