BrOTP stands for Bro one true pairing, a fandom and fan fiction abbreviation.

A fan's favorite platonic friendship between two characters, the friendship equivalent of an OTP. Used on Tumblr, AO3 and fan forums to celebrate close bonds without romance.

Example: Forget the romance plot, these two idiots are my BrOTP.

Usage notes

Formed by blending "bro" with OTP (one true pairing). Fans use it for duos such as sidekick-and-hero pairs or loyal best friends. The related NOTP names a pairing a fan dislikes. Tags such as "friendship" or "gen" (general, no romance) serve similar purposes on AO3.
