BCGs stands for Birth control glasses, a military term abbreviation.
Military slang for the thick, unattractive eyeglasses historically issued to recruits and service members, so called because they were said to make the wearer too unattractive to date.
Example: My boot camp photo shows me in BCGs with a fresh buzz cut.
Usage notes
The classic brown plastic frames, officially the S9 model, were issued for decades before the military moved to more modern styles in the early 2010s. Recruits still often wear issued glasses because contact lenses are not allowed in training.
