ASCE stands for American Society of Civil Engineers, a professional association and labor union abbreviation.
Oldest national engineering society in the United States, which develops codes and standards and publishes the Report Card for America's Infrastructure, grading roads, bridges, water systems and other infrastructure.

Usage notes
Founded in 1852, it now has chapters and student groups across the country. The infrastructure report card, issued every four years since 1998, rose to a C in 2025 from C-minus in 2021. Its ASCE 7 standard sets minimum design loads for buildings, including wind and earthquake loads.
