ACNA stands for Anglican Church in North America, a religious term abbreviation.
Conservative Anglican denomination formed in 2009 by congregations and dioceses that left the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada, mainly over disagreements about sexuality and biblical authority. It published its own Book of Common Prayer in 2019.
Example: The ACNA parish meets in a converted warehouse and uses the 2019 prayer book.
Usage notes
The ACNA is recognized by the GAFCON movement of conservative Anglican provinces but is not formally a member of the Anglican Communion. Some of its dioceses ordain women as priests and others do not. Its province spans the US and Canada.
