10MWT stands for Ten-meter walk test, a rehabilitation abbreviation.

Gait speed test in which the patient walks 10 meters and the time over the middle 6 meters is recorded, giving speed in meters per second at comfortable or fast pace.

Example: 10MWT comfortable speed 0.62 m/s, limited community ambulator.

Usage notes

Gait speed is sometimes called the "sixth vital sign" because it predicts falls, hospitalization and survival in older adults. Speeds below about 0.4 m/s suggest household ambulation and above about 0.8 m/s community ambulation, a classification used in stroke rehabilitation.
