Usage notes

The plural is yrs. The Gregorian year averages 365.2425 days, close to the solar year of about 365.2422 days, which is why century years are leap years only when divisible by 400: 2000 was a leap year and 1900 was not. Scientific notation uses a (annum) as the symbol for year instead.
