Region at the southern tip of Texas along the Rio Grande, including McAllen, Brownsville, Harlingen and Edinburg, with about 1.4 million people. The Valley is a major citrus and border-trade area.

Example: Starbase near Brownsville has brought aerospace jobs to the RGV.

Locals simply call it the Valley, although it is a delta rather than a true valley. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) opened in 2015.
