OSCP stands for Offensive Security Certified Professional, a professional certification abbreviation also used in technology.
Hands-on penetration testing certification from OffSec, earned by hacking into a set of machines in a proctored exam lasting nearly 24 hours and then submitting a professional report within another 24 hours. It is highly regarded for practical skills.
Example: After passing the OSCP, he moved from help desk to a penetration testing job.
Usage notes
Candidates usually prepare through the PEN-200 course and labs. In late 2024 OffSec introduced OSCP+, which expires after three years unless renewed, while the original OSCP remains lifetime. Its motto, "Try Harder", is well known in the security community.
