Usage notes
The active wings are the 1st MAW on Okinawa, the 2nd MAW at Cherry Point, North Carolina, and the 3rd MAW at Miramar, California, with the 4th MAW in the reserve. Marine aviation exists primarily to support Marines on the ground. Pronounced "maw."
