kPa stands for Kilopascal, an engineering unit abbreviation.
Tire pressure, gas line pressure and barometric readings outside the US are often given in kilopascals, each 1,000 pascals. Car tires are typically inflated to 200 to 250 kPa, and standard atmospheric pressure is 101.3 kPa.
Example: Front tires 240 kPa (35 psi) cold, as shown on the door placard.
Usage notes
Tire placards in Canada, Australia and Europe list kPa beside psi or bar: 100 kPa equals 1 bar, or about 14.5 psi. Canadian weather reports give barometric pressure in kPa, around 101 at sea level, unlike the hPa used in most other countries. Engine boost and fuel pressure are also measured in kPa.
