Street forming a loop that returns to the same road, or a road around a circular plaza or traffic circle such as Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., or Columbus Circle in New York.
Example: Turn right on Lakeview Cir and the house is the third on the left.
Usage notes
The Postal Service form is CIR. Loop-shaped circle streets are common in subdivisions because they give more frontage than a cul-de-sac. Cir. occasionally abbreviates circa in older texts, though c. or ca. is more usual.
