APFT stands for Army Physical Fitness Test, a military term abbreviation.

Army fitness test used for about four decades, consisting of two minutes of push-ups, two minutes of sit-ups and a two-mile run, scored by age and sex.

Example: He still remembers his best APFT score: 300 with a 12-minute two-mile run.

Usage notes

The APFT was replaced by the Army Combat Fitness Test, which became the test of record in 2022, partly because the old test was criticized for not reflecting combat tasks. Many veterans' records and older evaluation reports still list APFT scores.
