The final item on a meeting agenda, reserved for matters not listed elsewhere. It is standard in British, Irish, Australian and other Commonwealth committees, boards and workplaces.
Example: Item 7: AOB. Members wishing to raise a matter should notify the chair before the meeting.
American agendas more often say "new business" or "other business." Good chairing practice is to ask for AOB items at the start so they can be timed, and major decisions are not usually taken under AOB because members had no notice. Scottish bodies often write AOCB, "any other competent business."
2. Assignment of benefits

Authorization in which a patient directs an insurer to pay a provider directly instead of reimbursing the patient. It is usually signed at registration as part of intake paperwork.
Example: AOB signed at check-in, so the plan's payment goes straight to the clinic.
Assignment does not remove the patient's responsibility for deductibles and coinsurance. In Medicare, "accepting assignment" means the provider agrees to take the Medicare-approved amount as full payment. In property insurance, misuse of AOB agreements by contractors after storms prompted legislative reforms in Florida.
